If you use insulin or sulphonylurea medication (e.g. Gliclazide) you need to be careful as you will be at increased risk of hypoglycaemia by reducing carbohydrates consumed.

Professor Roy Taylor is one of the main researchers on the DIRECT which has shown that some people are able to put Type 2 Diabetes into remission through the use of a low calorie diet.  You can find his book on Amazon here which is a very useful guide to this approach.
